Sensory Integration
Welcome to the Sensory Integration collection by Ergotreatment — a curated hub of sensory activities, sensory toys, and sensory products designed to support sensory processing and sensory regulation in children. Whether you’re a parent, teacher, or pediatric occupational therapist, here you’ll find practical OT activities and resources that help kids stay calm, focused, and ready to learn.
From sensory bins and heavy work activities to fidget and stim toys, weighted blankets for kids, sensory headphones, and classroom-friendly sensory tools, every resource in this collection is chosen with child development, emotions and behaviour, and behavior regulation in mind.
Sensory integration is the foundational process upon which a child’s movement, attention, learning, and emotional regulation are built. When the sensory systems
– proprioceptive, vestibular, tactile, visual, and auditory –
process information in an organized way, the brain can filter, prioritize, and “coordinate” incoming input, allowing the child to remain regulated, calm, and available for participation in daily activities, play, and school-based learning.
In children with sensory processing difficulties, autism, ADHD, or other developmental challenges, targeted sensory integration intervention through structured yet play-based sensory activities helps improve
- sensory regulation,
- behavioral organization,
- posture and movement,
- fine and gross motor skills,
- as well as executive functioning.
In other words, we are not simply addressing “symptoms” (e.g., restlessness, difficulty focusing, meltdowns), but their root at the level of sensory processing, enhancing neuroplasticity and building more stable neural connections.
When sensory integration is appropriately supported with an individualized sensory diet, calming sensory strategies, and consistent behavior management approaches, children develop better self-regulation, greater independence in self-care tasks, and more functional participation at school and in peer play. At the same time, stress and tension are reduced for both the family and the educational environment, which is why sensory integration is considered one of the most critical pillars of contemporary pediatric OT practice.
Use this collection to build your own sensory diet at home, in the clinic, or in the classroom. Combine sensory activities for autism, classroom sensory kits, and simple OT home exercises to give children with autism, ADHD, learning differences, or other special needs the sensory support they need to participate more fully in everyday life and learning.
